Portraits, Pets, and More

A few favorite portraits here out of so many done over the past 45 years are family members. Of course commissioned portraits are the property of the client. It is well known that painting someone you love is the hardest portrait and artist can do! Our daughter, India, is depicted here at age 4 and age 27.

Don, my husband of 56 years, is seen in this exotic scene from Libya in 1955… painted from a slide… he is the essence of that time period! These nude paintings, and several more, were painted in closed classes at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center on Briarcliff, here in Atlanta.

Blue Velvet Dress

24 x 30 Oil on Linen She was 4 and in a little costume/beauty contest. We dressed her as a French maid.

India Louise Wallace

30 x 40 Oil on Linen India, our daughter, so introspective in this pose as she glimpses up from the book.

Don, Libya

1955, 18 x 24 Oil on Linen This time period piece says it all…a glamorous time, he was 20, having the time of his life!

Professional Model

24 x 30 Oil on Linen Painted in a private class at Callenwold, this lovely girl was finished in about 8 hours. These are closed classes that can run up to three days.

Professional Model

16 x 20 Oil on Linen Painted in a private class, this model was a 4 hour effort. These models hold a pose for 30-40 minutes at a stretch.

Myself and our Dog, Bandit

This is a portrait of myself and our dog, Bandit. What a lovely day in the North GA mountains and I found that irresistible as a great subject matter!

Bandit in the Parlor

8 x 10 Oil on Linen Our family dog, this beautiful Japanese Chin, is irresistible. I have painted him in the parlor chair (yes, had to use photos on this one).

Sandy

I was painting off the coast of Maine on North Haven Island for a week last summer and met the owner of this fine dog. What a gorgeous dog!

Black and White Dog

Cleo in the Parlor

8 x 10 Oil on Linen Cleo is our other beautiful family pet. She posed on top of her cat tree and I caught that on film.

Great Horned Owl

16 x 20 Acrylic on Masonite These two species of owls are common in our area, love painting feather detail and those eyes!

Saw Whet Owl

16 x 20 Acrylic on Masonite For the first 5 years of my art career, I painted wildlife exclusively, still love it!
